Picking Up the Pieces
he project started with great promise and ended
up a sap on the company's resources. CSG took a new look at the company's goals and
revitalized this stalled project.
- Identification of expensive source problem
- Plan of action to correct damage
- Resolution to a long-term data concern
This prominent, successful printing
company had originally hired a consulting firm to develop a new information
system that would improve their cash flow by speeding their billing process.
It would also help them serve their customers more quickly and accurately.
Yet two years later, the consultants they had hired were many months late
and had consumed more than twice their original budget. The system was
not yet working, and even the parts that appeared to work did not live
up to the client's expectations.
What the client needed was for someone, with no ties to or history with the
project, to determine whether they should continue the project with the
previous consultants, continue it some other way, or drop it entirely
despite the enormous amount of money they had already spent.
CSG came in, figured out the problems hidden deep within
the source code written by another consulting firm, and offered
a concrete plan of action. CSG was able to identify in a few days what the client
had agonized over for years.
