SQL (Structured Query Language, pronounced like "sequel")
A programming language designed for specifying operations to be performed by a relational database management system. SQL was originally designed by IBM for use on mainframes but was subsequently made an industry standard and is now widely used on computers of all sizes. Most client/server systems use the SQL language to communicate between the client software and the server software.
