The Chalem Approach:
A Philosophical Framework

philosophy

n todays marketplace it's become quite common to throw technical bodies at projects. Pick your technology or application; speed has taken the front seat. In many cases solution providers are quickly (and somewhat indiscriminately) assembling teams. Lots of money is spent on poorly coordinated and conceived solutions.

At Chalem Systems Group, it occurs to us that important guiding principles and governing philosophies are missing. It may appear that you are getting the kind of attention you need, but as your project rolls along you may begin to feel otherwise. In our minds, quality has suffered. With that in mind, we attack all of our projects within a time-tested, philosophical framework.

Our Four Key Cornerstones:

  • Data-Centered Design -- Chalem Systems Group's approach to software development begins with a data model: a detailed, rigorous representation of the information a system must handle.
  • Up-Front Planning -- We recognize that detailed decisions will need to be made about every aspect of a system and that these decisions can either be made on-the-fly as problems arise, or comprehensively and thoughtfully before coding begins.
  • Technology Independence -- We strive to keep up with the latest technology, but we also recognize the benefits of mature, tried-and-true technologies.
  • Discretion -- Custom software development is not always the right solution. Sometimes you can accomplish your goals through clever use of off-the-shelf software. Ultimately, our purpose is not just to develop custom systems, but to find the most cost-effective answer to a company's needs.
